Our before- and after-school programs combine recreation and fun with homework assistance to conveniently bridge the gap between your daily schedule and your child's. Full-time, part-time, and drop-in options are available and include half days, in-service days as well as snow-related closures, delays, or dismissals. Various snacks and meals are provided.

Before- and after-care programs are currently offered in the following areas:

• Wilkes-Barre in collaboration with Wilkes-Barre School District
• Dallas in collaboration with Dallas School District
• Lake-Lehman in collaboration with Lake-Lehman School District
• Mountaintop on site at Building Blocks Learning Center

Before & After School Program Philosophy

Before and after care is for children six years of age and older. It is designed to:

  • Support parents and families
  • Enrich students home, school, and social lives
  • Engage students through sports and recreation
  • Provide added learning opportunities and aid with homework
More than just
CHILD CARE
Students benefit from a high level of collaboration between the district and Building Blocks educators who work to enhance their educational progress. This can be through more formalized activities, or just giving them the space to play when their school day concludes. As with all Building Blocks programs, the experience far exceeds traditional care, emphasizing educational and emotional development that benefits the entire family.


Building Blocks before- and after-care programs are aligned with PA Early Learning Standards.
